Breakthrough — RCB Reach the Final
557 runs, 4 fifties, avg 46.4. RCB make the final (losing to CSK). Kohli established as the undisputed leader of the batting lineup.

657 runs, 8 fifties. RCB beat PBKS in the final. On his 18th attempt, Kohli lifts the IPL trophy in Ahmedabad. Ee Sala Cup Namdu.

Kohli has scored 500+ runs in 6 different IPL seasons — no other batter has done it more than 4 times. In 2016 alone he surpassed the 500-run mark that most batters never reach in a single campaign.
He has been part of all 18 consecutive IPL seasons — all for one team, RCB — a feat no other player has achieved. RCB signed him for $30,000 in 2008; by 2026 his retention fee was Rs 21 crore.
His 2016 batting average of 81.08 across 16 matches is the highest by any batter in a full IPL season. He scored more runs that year (973) than some teams managed across their entire campaigns.
Kohli's partnership of 3,123 runs with AB de Villiers is the most prolific in IPL history — built across nearly a decade of playing together for RCB and containing some of the most breathtaking batting the IPL has ever seen.
Kohli holds the record for the most runs against Delhi Capitals (1,057) — ironically, DC (then Daredevils) were interested in signing him in 2008 but chose left-arm pacer Pradeep Sangwan instead.
He is the only batter to earn 900+ ICC rating points in all three formats — Test, ODI and T20I simultaneously. He retired from Tests in May 2025 and T20Is after the 2024 World Cup win.
